NIDS is a not-for-profit, non-religious, non-racial and a non-governmental organization. It is registered at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, under Nepal’s Organization Registration Act 2034, which was done in the year 2063 B.S (2006 A.D) and it got affiliated to the Social Welfare Council in the year 2063 B.S (2006 A.D) as required by the Nepali Law. NIDS is a not-for-profit association incorporated in Nepal. NIDS manages and implements project resources to help disaster survivors in their quest for peace, social stability, economic growth and sustainable development. NIDS comes into existence because the Government response to disaster is just preventive and immediate relief targeted. The Government doesn’t fully respond to the disaster survivors, that’s why we want to be here to make a difference.

Considering the current situation of disaster survivors in the country and the way disaster is addressed in the nation, NIDS wants to make strong advancements in the process of fighting them. Fighting them to make their effect more comfortable to handle so that disaster remains only a disaster when it hits, not after it hits.
